A celebrated poet, painter and sculptor, Bob Reeves has become one of the county's most prolific artists - a truly multi faceted talent. His work was once described by the late Professor Gwyn Alf Williams as "That arresting fusion of the stark, the lyrical and the profane." Never seeking to explain or justify, Bob believes that if the painting does not evoke a reaction from the viewer - then it simply does not work for them.
He was born on the north bank of the Cleddau estuary Neyland, Pembrokeshire. He recalls an idyllic childhood spent cockling, prawning fishing and swimming - laying the foundation for what he freely admits is a lifelong love of his native county. This early memory was a forerunner of what was to become the artist's continuing fascination with the changing qualities of light according to the dictates of time and season. Indeed he describes the light of Pembrokeshire as having a peculiar salt -washed quality which makes him feel that the sea is always over the next hedge.
"As an artist I can do more than paint and sculpt. Sometimes what I see but always what I feel. My response is immediate and personal. I am part of the circle of this Earth. It's cycle of tides and seasons continue to entrance me. I seek no escape"
His Unique vision and stunning execution mean that his work is much sort after and features in many collections in Britain and overseas.
Following his sell-out exhibition in July 2009 bob Reeves next one man show is scheduled for July/August 2011
