Jeff Walker trained as a metallurgic technician at Scunthorpe Steelworks.

He took voluntary redundancy to undertake a foundation course in art, followed by a BA (Hons) in 3-Dimensional Design at Brighton University.  His professional career has involved lecturing in art schools throughout Britain. He has exhibited since 1982.

In 1994 he retrained and established the acclaimed Cornloft Creative and Therapeutic Art Studio. It is a resource for children and families who are referred via Educational departments, Social Services, Mental Health Clinics, Charities and private businesses.  He continues to work as an artist.

"Jeff Walker is not just an artist but an artist with particular experience and success in using his skills "therapeutically" to help children and adults with a medley of physical, emotional and behavioural problems.  He is not an Art therapist, and he is not a Counsellor, instead he manages to transcend both of these roles by explicitly working as an artist and potter while implicitly providing a therapeutic space and opportunities for others needing to develop trust and a safe relationship with someone outside of their normal family or community systems.

Jeff provides a wide range of art materials and encourages those he works with to create something of their own under a subtle guidance which can not be described as teaching or prescriptive.  Jeff promotes an atmosphere of creativity and understanding together with faith that anyone can express themselves through art and move forward as a person in so doing.  Jeff is an experienced Arts Tutor effective in facilitating people to do something different, and escape from the unhelpful repetitive patterns that have so far characterized their lives."                              Dr Alexander Burnfield FRCPsych

He met Colour Sargeant Barry John whilst working on the Otherworlds project  at the John Creasey Art Gallery in Salisbury and they discovered that their artwork had many shared facets - energy spontaneity and a bold sense of colour. And Barry subsequently invited Jeff to exhibit at the gallery with him in April.
