I was born in Wokingham in Berkshire, where I lived until studying Fine Art Painting in Brighton University, graduating in 2004. After completing a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design in The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2007 I moved to Haverfordwest and worked in Tasker Milward VC School for two years. I have recently found a new enthusiasm for painting, taking inspiration from my new surroundings.

I have always painted landscapes and in particular scenes featuring trees as they hold an almost spiritual significance to me. I have used photographs taken all over Pembrokeshire including areas like Picton to create my most recent work. I am interested in the variation in light and colour found around trees, together with elegant curving lines. I am influenced by artists including Graham Sutherland who loved Pembrokeshire and had a strong sense of composition. I use acrylic paints as they allow me to work quickly, layering colours as I choose. I aim to contrast controlled, deliberate composition with playful, heightened colour.
