The works of designer and ceramic artist Piet Stockmans and artist Terry Setch have had a significant influence on my own prolific and eclectic work ethic. From large-scale installations, to two dimensional collages and domestic ceramics, I relish the spontaneous effects of materials under fire, and create one-off objects where the evidence of craft is very much on show.

Feeding my obsession for multiples and the burning out of commonplace materials, these vessels and collages are constructed from rhyparography. The ceramic forms have a nest-like quality that rests well within the landscape ethos of the collages.

Having succeeded in secreting print within the clay so that it is virtually undetectable without direct light, I have applied this process to this series of ceramic vessels.  Scripted with elements of folklore gives a sense of timelessness and nostalgia to these precious objects.  Sitting on the edge of function, I hope these fragile yet tactile vessels will intrigue and please beyond a search for process.

Much of my inspiration comes from the objective observation of the Pembrokeshire landscape and a growing appreciation of ancient Welsh culture.

However, it is not my intention to create a didactic or parochial body of work, hence the less literal representation of form in the collages and the relative obscurity of the script on and in the ceramic vessels
